Shortlisting New Digital Leaders

In my role as Computing Leader at Fagley Primary School I have begun the process of appointing some new pupil Digital Leaders.

Children from Years 4 and 5 have been writing applications for jobs, which asked them to answer one key question:

Why do you want to become a Digital Leader at our school?

The deadline for completed applications was 3pm today. I have been very pleased with the response, having received 40 application forms. However, we will only be appointing 6-8 children. So, in order to narrow down the candidates, we need to draw up a shortlist of children to invite to interview.

Interviews will take place in school on Wednesday 10 December 2014, and there are enough interview slots for 20 children, so this is the number that we need to narrow it down to in our shortlisting process.

At 9pm today, during #DLchat, I am asking for anybody and everybody to help me to carry out this shortlisting process.

You can see all 40 applications by viewing them in the Google Drive here: Fagley Digital Leader Applications. Please follow and join in the Twitter chat!

In order to focus the process of shortlisting, I would like to consider the following questions:

  • Does the candidate demonstrate useful technological knowledge?
  • Is the candidate a team player with a focus on helping others?
  • Would the candidate benefit from taking up the role?
  • I am not particularly concerned with the quality of handwriting or general presentation at this stage. The criteria above take priority, though consideration may be given to presentation and handwriting in the event that candidates are otherwise impossible to separate.

Thank you in advance for your help; it is much appreciated!
